HORSES | Charro on the Road

HORSES

Come meet the Garcilazo’s horse team! Hollywood and Bolero are now retired, and the new rising stars are Malibu, Vikingo, Napoleon and Chinaco, with Habanero preparing to join the team for the 2026 season.

Malibu

Born in 2020, Malibu is a palomino Quarter Horse gelding raised at the Garcilazo Ranch. As the own son of Tomas’s legendary palomino, Latigo Dun It (better known as Hollywood), Malibu carries on his father’s legacy. Having Malibu is like having a piece of Hollywood with us. He shares the same spirit, personality, and disposition. Charro remains trained, he can slide, spin, and perform side passes with elegance and precision.

Vikingo (Viking)

Viking, a 2016 cremello Quarter Horse gelding, recently joined the team and quickly made his mark. Charro remains trained, he executes slides, spins, and side passes with style. His long, natural mane and tail give him a striking, majestic look.

Malibu

Born in 2014, Napoleon is a spirited roan pony from the famous Vicente Fernández ranch. With traditional charro reining training and a charming Spanish walk, he’s a standout in every performance.

Habanero

Habanero is a 2020 buckskin Andalusian stallion, high school trained, and full of life and passion. Energetic and eager to learn, he is the newest addition to the team and is preparing to shine in the 2026 season. His enthusiasm and spirit promise to make every performance exciting and unforgettable.

Chinaco

Chinaco, the 2023 miniature pony, is the newest addition and the family’s adorable mascot. Full of personality, he brings joy and charm wherever he goes.

Hollywood (Latigo Dun It)

Hollywood, officially named Latigo Dun It, is a 2002 palomino registered Quarter Horse stallion and the son of the legendary Hollywood Dun It, a record-setting reigning champion. Born in Utopia, Texas, he was discovered by Tomás in Mexico; he brought him back to the US and became a cornerstone of the performance team. Debuting at the 2007 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Hollywood captivated audiences with his elegance, golden coat, and incredibly long silver mane. In 2024, Hollywood officially retired under the spotlight at the NFR, where his career had begun 17 years earlier, with a special tribute honoring his legacy and saying goodbye to the crowd. Inducted into the Palomino Hall of Fame in 2018 and made into a Breyer horse model, he remains a legendary figure in the horse entertainment world.

Bolero

Bolero, a 2006 bay Andalusian, is high school trained in charro-style performances, executing side passes, the Spanish walk, dances, and even laying down on cue. He became an exceptional partner for Tomas, allowing him to display his roping artistry while Bolero’s signature lay-down trick adds flair. He is also the star of the famous Día de Muertos act, showcased on TBS’s Go Big Show. He retired at the end of the 2024 show season after mentoring Malibu and Viking for a year on the road.
